From the Serengeti, you will proceed towards Lake Victoria. Depending on your accommodation in the Serengeti you can visit the Nyerere Museum at Butiama on the way to the shores. Around noon, you will then reach Speke Bay at Lake Victoria, named after the famous explorer John Hanning Speke, who, in 1858, discovered Lake Victoria to be the source of the Nile River. In the afternoon, you will begin the drive towards Bujora Village to visit the Sukuma Museum, where you will learn about the tradition and culture of the largest ethnic group in Tanzania. Overnight is at Speke Bay Lodge. Lunch and dinner included.
In the morning you will visit a Sukuma Village nearby where a local community member will act as your guide, explaining different methods of fishing and the way of life in a village in rural Tanzania. He will also show you the local market and school if possible. If available, a traditional healer can also be visited. Then, you can go on a canoe trip in a local fishing boat where the paddlers sing traditional songs of home, cattle, and life in general as they work. In the afternoon, rest at your lodge, join an interesting birding walk on the lodge premises, or take an adventurous mountain biking trip to the Masamba Hills nearby. (The village visit and morning program are already included in the price; the bird walk and mountain biking tour will be extra depending on the number of clients booked.) Overnight at Speke Bay Lodge. All meals included.
Depending on your schedule you will depart after breakfast and continue for the next leg of your journey.
